Patrol Camp 2014

Our End of Year Camp will be a Patrol Camp.

This will give our patrols a strong opportunity to bond with their own members and also give them a chance to prove their leadership qualities to the people who matter most to them in our Scout unit.

The patrols have been tasked with planning their own schedule and subject to approval from the Scout Leaders, they will conduct themselves independently during the camp.

Of course, there will be some unit level activities.

Fall In: Tuesday, 4th November 2014 @ 0800hrs
Dismissal: Thursday, 76th November 2014 @ 1700hrs.

Once the patrols have confirmed their plans, the Teachers in Charge will issue a consent form with details about the cost.

Other details such as things to bring will be disseminated directly by the Patrol Leaders to their respective members.

Dear Scouts and Parents,

The Singapore Scout Association has revamped its portal and made it more useful for scouts. The revamped SSA Web Portal was officially launched at the AGM 2014 by Mr. Tan Tee How, the President of SSA on 28 June 2014.

The main objectives of this portal are:
 a)  To increase visitor ship and vibrancy within the scouting fraternity.
 b)  To improve training capability for Scouts
 c)  To increase chatters and viralbility on social media

To meet the objectives, the following new features have been added to the portal:-
 a)  Members can now log in to share stories and experiences through videos or articles.
b)  There is a direct links to Flickr and Facebook accounts for uploading of event photos.
c)  Articles, videos and training aids can be uploaded and shared on the portal which serves as an additional resource centre.  This will improve the training capabilities for Scouts.
 d)  Another added feature is 101 stories which aim to inspire young scouts and stake-holders on the positive impact of scouting, thus enhancing the scouting profile.

I look forward to you all using their new features and their active interactions on the portal

Handphones during Scout Activities

This applies to all official Scout activities.

Scouts are not allowed to use their handphones during regular scouting activities. They can, however, freely use a digital camera to take pictures (for their journals, to post on fb, selfies, etc etc) at any time.

The time in Scouts is for them to bond with their patrol members and participate in activities, not to chat with their friends on social media or play games on their devices.

The camera is the Scout's responsibility.

We recommend using a cheap and easy-to-use waterproof camera that can be brought outdoors for activities such as hikes and camps.
