TROOP CAMP

CAMP OBJECTIVES:

1. Prepare Scouts for Jamboree

2. Provide Opportunities for Scouts to Complete Progress Scheme Components

Other Remarks:

This camp will not be too tough. There will be plenty of hands on activities and scouting theories taught. Bring with you questions about Scouting in any form whatsoever.

Collection of Record Booklets:

We’ll be collecting your record booklets to compute our FCSA Points.

Date: Friday 18th September 2015.

Ensure your records are up to date. Make an appointment with Mr Shamir during the September Holidays to help you complete the various awards in your progress scheme.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Troop Camp this weekend.
• Submit consent forms and payment on the first day of the camp.
• Cheques to be made payable to “THE SINGAPORE SCOUT ASSOCIATION”, write “ST ANDREW’S ‘STAR’ SCOUT GROUP” on the back of the cheque.
• An official packing list will not be provided. You may however distribute your own packing list amongst yourself. Be prepared for a 3D2N camp.
• One of the activities will be learning how to pack for a 6D5N camp, as is the Jamboree, so you may want to bring more clothes to learn how to effectively pack for the Jamboree.
• Troop Camp will involve half a day of Patrol Activities. Do discuss with your patrol members early on what activity you wish to do.
• make it a productive and useful meeting.

SUMMARY

Troop Camp this weekend will be a simple 3D2N camp focused on learning various skills in a fun light hearted environment designed to provide as many opportunities for learning Scouting Values and Skills as possible.

TROOP MEETING

DATE: 28th AUGUST 2015

FALL IN:   1500 hrs

DISMISS:  1800 hrs
ATTIRE: PE Attire

DUTY PATROL: Woodpecker

THINGS TO BRING:

1. Handphones for photos
2. Water bottle

Other Remarks: We will end early and have a simple meeting due to Founders Day. Troop Meeting will be in PE attire to allow Scouts to maintain their uniform for Founders Day.

Fall in: Tanah Merah MRT @ 1730hrs

Dismiss: AHS @ 2200hrs or when CF ends

Patrols Involved: Bird Patrols

Scouts involved in FDP can either

1. Find a replacement OR
2. Be at AHS by 1900hrs

• Bring your handphones along and upload pictures to your journals and facebook directly during troop meeting.

• Practice early for the Flag Pole Building Challenge

• Scouts involved in Founders Day parade are to report as per Mr Gordon Goh’s instructions.

• Remember to bring your complete Uniform set.

SUMMARY

We’ll have a Regular Troop Meeting that will end an hour earlier than usual due to Founders’ Day. This will also be the last Invitational Campfire for this year.

We will soon check all your record booklets to see our total FCSA Score for this year. Do have them ready within the next 2 weeks.

Founders Day Parade

Scouts will replace NPCC who are away at camp.

PLs will select 10-12 senior scouts (Sec 3 and above) along with Julian, Samuel Ang and Matthew Ryan Teo to participate in this event. Marching in the parade does not affect your award ceremony.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• Troop Meeting Report in PE Attire and BRING your Full U
• Handphones will be allowed for you to update your journals and take pictures during troop meeting.
• There will be a patrol Equipment check during Troop Meeting. Have all your items ready!

• Founders Day Parade for those involved. Take note of rehearsal dates and times. Take instructions from Mr Gordon Goh

• Group Camp will be at Sarimbun from 4th to 6th September 2015. The focus will be on preparing you for the Jamboree.

• Patrols who have lost Donation Draw booklets are to pay Mr Shamir back for the lost booklets.
• $15 each for each booklet.

SUMMARY

Troop Meeting resumes with lesser manpower as most seniors will be at the Founders’ Day rehearsal.

We’ll be gearing up for Group Camp soon as well.
